Brief Description about the site-mapping
Let Trans-Canada Audit assist you in designing a comprehensive Rail Operations Site Map to ensure your critical rail assets are clearly identified and understood by all those involved and your Rail Operations.
A comprehensive Rail Operations site map should include;
* Numbering/Identifying all tracks and turnouts within the site
* Placement, direction of travel (if one way only).
* end and/or entry/exit points
* location of mainline tracks passing through the site where traffic may impact movement on the tracks within the site.
* Secure access gates
* Location of Fire Extinguishers and or firefighting equipment.
* Emergency Shut down switches
* Restricted height or side clearances
Derails, Switches, Frogs, Turnouts
* Insulations joints, Grounding wire connection point to the tracks
* Grounding rod locations
* Crossings
* End of track Car Stops and signage
* Foul markers to denote the point beyond which rail equipment on one track cannot be parked to prevent contacting rail equipment operating on an adjacent track.
* Electrical lines which may pose a danger to rail operations
* Nearby pipelines that may be impacted by rail operations
* If the site has a restriction on how far along a given track a switching (shunting) locomotive can travel, that point should be clearly identified on the track map and signed on the track.
